What is Nectar Canvass?

Nectar Canvass is a market research panel that compensates its members with “Nectar Points” in exchange for sharing their opinions on a variety of topics through filling in surveys. The platform was launched back in 2006 by a UK-based market research company, Nectar 360 Ltd.

Right now, Nectar Canvass is being run in cooperation with another market research company, Dynata LLC, that’s been operating since 2000 that also owns and runs a bunch of other well-known survey panels, such as

In order to be able to join Nectar Canvass, you must first issue a “Nectar Card” by becoming a member of Nectar’s loyalty program on nectar.com

That’s because all the Nectar Points you generate by filling in surveys for Nectar Canvass can only be deposited in a Nectar Card.

Issuing a Nectar Card is possible only to people who reside in the UK, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands, and the Isle of Man.

Nectar Points can then be redeemed for purchases from dozens of UK-based retailers in the travel, retail, and finance industries, such as:

  • Sainsbury’s
  • Argos
  • eBay
  • LNER
  • Esso
  • Asos
  • & more

Nectar Canvass is addressed to people from the UK who are interested in filling in surveys in exchange for Nectar Points that can be redeemed for purchases from several predetermined UK-based retailers.

If you’re after pocketing some actual extra side cash that you could spend on anything you might want without any limitations, then I suggest that you take a look at the Best Survey Websites to Join in 2021.

On the other hand, if you’re after building a sizeable monthly income online, then you should really check out something else.

How Does Nectar Canvass Work?

Upon signing up for Nectar Canvass you’ll be prompted to fully complete your demographic profile by answering a few questions that revolve around a variety of subjects, such as:

  • Age
  • Sex
  • Interests & hobbies
  • Health
  • Work
  • & more

Your answers are then going to be used by Nectar Canvass and its third-party partners to determine which surveys you should be invited to.

The average Nectar Canvass study lasts from 10 to 30 minutes and pays out anywhere between 50 and 200 Nectar Points.

One Nectar Point is worth 0.5 pence.

As such:

  • 200 Nectar Points = £1
  • 1000 Nectar Points = £5
  • 5000 Nectar Points = £25
  • and 10,000 Nectar Points = £50

The number of Nectar Points a survey is worth, as well as its duration, is disclosed by Nectar Canvass beforehand.

This enables you to make informed decisions regarding which surveys you’ll be investing your time and attention in and which not.

The Nectar Points you generate by filling in surveys for Nectar Canvass will be deposited to your Nectar Card within 28 days after completing any given survey unless specified otherwise.

After completing your first survey, Nectar Canvass will automatically include you into its quarterly prize draw that pays 10,000 Nectar Points (£50) to one of its members.

How Does Nectar Canvass Pay?

Nectar Canvass pays its members in Nectar Points that can only be deposited in Nectar Cards.

Those points can then be redeemed for purchases from predetermined UK-based retailers that have partnered with Nectar, such as Argos, Brakes, eBay, Eurostar, Expedia, Sainsbury’s, Viking-Direct, VUE Cinemas, & more.

Redeeming your points can take place either through the Nectar App, nectar.com, or just by swiping your Nectar Card directly in the partnering store’s cash register.

How Much Money Can I Make With Nectar Canvass?

According to many online testimonials and after personally talking to a few current and former members of Nectar Canvass myself, it seems that it’s extremely unlikely for someone to earn more than £50 with the platform.

Nonetheless, your mileage might vary depending on your demographics and more specifically, your consumer purchasing power.

Your consumer purchasing power is basically the amount of money that you can potentially spend on purchasing products and/or services.

People with high consumer purchasing power tend to receive more survey invitations and higher-paying surveys.

That’s because the companies that collaborate with Nectar Canvass are after gathering data and insights from people who actually have money to spend on their products/services.

For instance, a company will naturally care more about the opinion of a person who has a full-time job, kids, and has control over all the shopping of their household than someone who is unemployed and doesn’t have any income or kids.

Subsequently, the latter is going to be invited to fewer surveys most of which will also be worth a lot less Nectar Points.

Plus, as we’ll see later on, other survey panels seem to pay twice as much money, or maybe even more, for the exact same surveys that are offered by Nectar Canvass.

Nectar Canvass Pros

1 • Long-Standing Panel

Nectar Canvass is among the oldest survey panels that I’ve reviewed until now as it has been operating since 2006.

That’s a rather impressive feat as well as proof that the platform is not a scam, as in the MMO (Make Money Online) industry scams don’t last for more than a few months.

2 • Simple to Utilize

Nectar Canvass’s minimal and straightforward design makes the platform extremely simple to utilize even for people who aren’t quite tech-savvy or have never joined a survey panel before.

Nectar Canvass Cons

1 • Mostly Negative Feedback

Since it was first launched back in 2006, Nectar Canvass seems to have received mostly negative feedback and low ratings from those who have used it.

For instance, Nectar Canvass has been rated with only 1.9 out of 5 stars based on 30+ user reviews on Trustpilot.

Right below you can take a look at what some people have to say about their experience with Nectar Canvass:

2 • Low-Paying Surveys

Most of the time, the exact same surveys that are served by Nectar Canvass are also served by many of Nectar Canvass’s competitors.

That’s completely normal as Nectar Canvass aggregates its surveys from several third-party survey providers who are probably simultaneously cooperating with dozens of other survey panels.

However, what’s not normal is that according to many reports, completing a survey on Nectar Canvass pays significantly less money than completing the exact same survey on one of its competitors (see image below).

Comment About Lower-Paying Surveys on Nectar Canvass

That’s definitely not cool…

3 • Survey Disqualifications

A very common complaint about Nectar Canvass is that the vast majority of its surveys kick you out halfway through with an excuse that you didn’t qualify.

As you can understand, this means that you could potentially end up wasting quite a lot of time and energy answering survey questions only to get disqualified.

The “good news” is that every time you get screened out from a survey, Nectar Canvass will still reward you with 2 Nectar Points for the time and energy you spent trying to complete it.

4 • Available Only in the UK

Nectar Canvass is available only to people who are located in the UK.

If you’re not located in the UK, then you won’t be able to join Nectar Canvass so you might want to check out Swagbucks and/or Prizerebel, both of which are available worldwide.

Lastly, please note that to be allowed to join Nectar Canvass, you need to be at least 18 years old.

5 • Delayed Credit

Another thing that I don’t like about Nectar Canvass is that the Nectar Points you generate after completing its surveys can take up to 28 days to actually get credited to your Nectar Card.

That’s way too long compared to the vast majority of other survey panels that credit you either immediately or within just a couple of hours.

6 • Account Deactivations

Lastly, over the years, tons of people have complained about Nectar Canvass shutting down their accounts out of the blue due to alleged violations of its Terms & Conditions.

Now, truth is that such complaints are quite common among almost all survey panels out there, especially those run by Dynata.

If you read and follow Nectar Canvass’s Terms & Conditions to the letter and at all times, you might be able to avoid facing such issues.

Is Nectar Cavass a Scam or Suggested?

Nectar Canvass is not a scam but it’s not suggested either…

The exact same surveys that are offered by Nectar Canvass are also served by most of its competitors, including Opinion Outpost, Valued Opinions, and Swagbucks, with the only difference that they are worth a lot more money.

In addition, the fact that Nectar Canvass has received way too much negative feedback since it was first launched is quite discouraging as well.

Furthermore, unlike most survey panels that credit you for your efforts instantly, the Nectar Points that you generate within Nectar Canvass can take up to 28 days to get credited to your Nectar Card.

Frankly, I’m pretty convinced that sooner or later, Nectar Canvass might be on its way out…

In conclusion, if I were you, I’d rather invest my time and energy in some other, more trustworthy, and higher-quality survey panel, such as Prolific and/or Survey Junkie.
