Wealthy Affiliate vs. Affilorama: The Most Accurate 2018 Review

Wealthy Affiliate and Affilorama are two of the largest and most popular affiliate marketing training platforms out there. They are also direct competitors.

Tons of people have begun their affiliate marketing journey on those platforms and with their help and guidance, a huge chunk of those people has managed to completely transform their lives by escaping the 9-5 corporate world and earning a full-time living working online.

So, where should YOU begin? Should you go for Wealthy Affiliate or Affilorama? This is ultimately your call!

Nevertheless, in an attempt to further help you make a decision I’ll let you know which platform I prefer and why… Make sure to stick till the end of this review to find out.

In this Wealthy Affiliate vs. Affilorama review, I’ll try to be as transparent and objective as possible, in order for you to be able to make an informed decision which you will not regret.

The aspects of the platforms that I am going to be comparing are

  • Training
  • Tools
  • Support
  • Community

Before I move on, I want to point out that I am a member of both Wealthy Affiliate and Affiloarama, and I have been using both platforms simultaneously for a while now.

An Overview of the Platforms

Wealthy Affiliate was founded back in 2005 by Kyle and Carson, two aspiring affiliate marketers. Since then, they have helped hundreds of thousands of people get started with affiliate marketing and end up owning successful affiliate marketing businesses.

About Wealthy Affiliate

With 13 years of experience in the field, Wealthy Affiliate is constantly growing and evolving, now being the hottest affiliate marketing training platform with almost 1 million active members.

About Affilorama

Affilorama was founded by Mark Ling and Simon Slade in 2006. At that time, Mark Ling had already been in the affiliate marketing business for about 8 years and he decided to put all he knew together to create Affilorama’s training.

Since launch, Affilorama has grown to over 300,000 worldwide members.

The main goal of both platforms is to minimize the struggles of those who want to become affiliate marketers by providing them with all the training, tools, and support they require to end up owning profitable affiliate marketing businesses, regardless of previous skill and experience.

Both Wealthy Affiliate and Affilorama are free to join. As a free member, you can get your hands on a variety of training and tools.

They also both offer premium, paid features such as more extensive and in-depth training, more professional tools, dedicated support, better community access, etc. (I will talk about pricing later on).

Let’s start comparing, shall we?

Affilorama Free Training

The outline of Affilorama’s free lessons is as follows:

  • Content Creation

  • Marketing Ideas
  • SEO
  • PPC
  • Affiliate Outsourcing

Some of those lessons are more generic than others but the overall quality of their content is relatively high.

One of the main downsides of the free Affilorama training is that it contains is outdated content.

Unfortunately, Affilorama has not completely removed those outdated lessons that can do more harm than good to your affiliate business.

However, there are usually relevant warnings so keep your eyes open.

Wealthy Affiliate Free Training

As a free Wealthy Affiliate member, you have access to 20 affiliate marketing lessons containing text, images, video, and actionable tasks.

Affilorama’s free lessons definitely outnumber Wealthy Affiliate’s.

However, the phenomenal quality of Wealthy Affiliate’s free training absolutely compensates for its lack of quantity.

By the end of those 20 lessons, you will have

  • Grasped what affiliate marketing is, how it works, and how you can make money from it
  • Chosen your niche
  • Created and fully set up your first website
  • Understood how to use your content management system, WordPress
  • Learned how to find and employ the right keywords to attract visitors to your website
  • and much more

Not only there are no outdated lessons but most of them are also constantly updated.

Moreover, the lessons have been made so simple in order for those who have no previous experience with such matters to be able to fully comprehend and follow.

In addition, with your free Wealthy Affiliate membership, you can also access hundreds of tutorials, blog posts, training modules, tip sheets, etc created by other more advanced members.

Affilorama Premium Training

To get your hands on Affilorama’s premium training you have to purchase one of their products

  • Pathway to Passive
  • AffiloBlueprint
  • AffiloJetpack

All of those products are just a one-time payment.

Note: Most Affilorama reviews state that Affilorama offers a premium recurring membership at 67$ per month which you can test drive with 1$ for the first month.

Those reviews are out of date as this kind of deal used to be effective a few years back but not anymore.

Pathway to Passive – 37$

Pathway to Passive

Mark Ling calls the Pathway to Passive the ultimate “Read First” guide for new affiliates.

Some of the things that this guide will teach you are

  • How to find profitable niches and products
  • Why you aren’t getting visitors to your website and how to start attracting the right ones
  • Converting your visitors into buyers
  • Create shareable content which attracts links from other websites

Mark Ling claims that Pathway to Passive is going to let you know all about the most up-to-date techniques to increase your odds of succeeding and save you tons of time and frustration.

AffiloBlueprint – 197$

Affiloblueprint is basically a course addressed to either those who don’t know how and where to get started with affiliate marketing or those who have already given affiliate marketing a chance but failed miserably.

Mark Ling claims that AffiloBlueprint lays down the exact same system that he is using himself to create affiliate marketing websites in random niches which end up bringing 500$ per week within 12 weeks.

AffiloBlueprint goes more in-depth on topics such as

  • Finding your niche
  • Building and customizing your website
  • Creating content that your visitors will love and share
  • How to drive traffic to your website from social media
  • SEO (search engine optimization)
  • PPC (Pay Per Click)
  • and much more

AffiloBlueprint

The course is comprised of 90+ step-by-step, digestible videos which anyone, even those who have no knowledge and experience, will find easy to follow.

Purchasing AffiloBluepring also grants you access to

  • A private forum only accessible by AffiloBlueprint members
  • 12-month web hosting for up to 5 websites
  • AffiloTheme (a WordPress appearance theme)
  • weekly homework
  • etc

Learn more about AffiloBlueprint right here!

AffiloJetpack – 997$

AffiloJetpack

AffiloJetpack is a done-for-you system. Mark Ling calls it “The Shortcut to the Big Bucks”!

He states that by purchasing this system, 80% of the work needed to start making money online is already completed as the system provides you with

  • 18 high-profitable niches to choose from
  • 5 websites which can be installed with no effort
  • An autoresponder service
  • 100+ pre-written promotional emails
  • 3 freebies to entice your visitors to give you their email addresses
  • 12-month hosting for your 5 websites
  • 20+ content “cheat sheets”
  • Access to AffiloJetpack’s private forum
  • Access to his writers in case you want to outsource your content
  • Training on how to put everything together
  • and much more

All you have to do to start earning is 20% of the work you would normally do.

And all that just by a one-time payment of 997$.

I have never tried AffiloJetpack. Nonetheless, I’ve done a very extensive research before writing about it.

To tell you the truth, I wouldn’t spend my money on such a product even if my life depended on it.

Always be aware that there is no way out of spending time and energy towards making money and I don’t trust anyone who claims that there is. What sounds too good to be true, probably is.

Wealthy Affiliate vs Affilorama – Tools

The tools that you are going to be using during your journey are just as important as the quality of your affiliate marketing training. Having the right tools is definitely going to make your life way easier and take you closer to your goals much faster.

Both Wealthy Affiliate and Affilorama provide a range of valuable tools to their members such as

  • Website builder
  • Hosting
  • Keyword Research Tool
  • Traffic monitoring
  • etc

Website Builder

Back in the day, to create a website required a great deal of coding knowledge as well as some months of consistent coding.

As you can imagine, people like you and me, who had no previous experience with such matters would have a really hard time getting their businesses online.

Nowadays, creating professional-looking websites is easier and faster than ever before and can be achieved with little to no training at all with the help of modern website builders.

Wealthy Affiliate Website BuilderWealthy Affiliate has such a website builder available embedded within it.

My very first affiliate marketing website was effortlessly created with this website builder in less than 5 minutes

Truthfully, if it weren’t for this website builder, I might have never got started with affiliate marketing in the first place.

Both free and premium members can use Wealthy Affiliate’s website builder.

Affilorama DOES NOT have a website builder. It claims to have one called AffiloTheme but it is nothing but a WordPress appearance theme with slightly more features than a regular free one. Its cost is 97$ which is definitely NOT worth paying for.

Affilorama offers 19 “lessons” on website building which barely scratch the surface of website coding by using legacy and hard-to-learn techniques and tools such as PHP and Dreamweaver.

Even after completing those lessons you will have no clue whatsoever on how to build your website so basically, they are an utter waste of time.

Also, those lessons are on the 4th section of the initial training, after the “Content Creation” section. This means that Affilorama first teaches about content creation and then about website creation which frankly does not make any sense.

The bottom line is that as an Affilorama free member, you are going to have a hard time getting your website up and running which will be definitely discouraging and frustrating for most.

With Wealthy Affiliate, all you have to do is watch a 15-minute video which explains how to use their website builder and just follow Kyle’s instructions. By the end of it, you will have created your website on one of the easiest-to-use platforms, WordPress, which powers more than 25% of all existing websites.

Website Hosting

Affilorama

Affilorama provides 12-month hosting for up to 5 websites to those who purchase AffiloBlueprint and AffiloJetpack.

Their hosting servers are the same ones they are using to host Affilorama, which are pretty fast and reliable with almost 100% uptime.

Free members are not offered any kind of hosting.

Wealthy Affiliate

On the other hand, the websites that you create with Wealthy Affiliate’s website builder are hosted for free on Wealthy Affiliate’s servers.

As a free WA member, you can host up to 2 websites for free for as long as you want. As a premium member, you can host up to 50 websites at no additional cost.

Wealthy Affiliate’s servers are really fast and of very high quality.

They also have unique built-in tools which will dramatically improve the quality of your online business such as

  • Spam Blocker
  • Sophisticated, highly compatible, and ultra-fast caching to make your website load and run 20 times faster than other websites
  • Minification of Javascript and CSS files for further speed gains
  • SSL (secure browsing for your visitors)

Keyword Research Tool

Learning how to use keywords is maybe one of the most important factors that determines your success as an affiliate marketer.

Keywords are the words or phrases that people search for in Google to find your website.

A keyword research tool is going to let you know about some aspects of keywords based on which you will be able to determine if a keyword is good to use or not. For example, a keyword which has way too much competition might not be the best choice for a brand new website… Likewise, a keyword which receives no searches per month is also not recommended.

With a keyword research tool, you are going to be able to choose the keywords which will rank your articles high on the SERPs (Search Engine Results Pages), thus receiving more visitors, and thus earning more money.

Wealthy Affiliate has its own keyword research tool called Jaaxy. As a free member, you can only use a limited version of Jaaxy which allows only about 30 keyword searches.

As a premium member, you can use its Lite version which is perfect for beginners as well as advanced affiliate marketers allowing unlimited keyword searches and giving you access to all of Jaaxy’s features such as

  • Search Analysis
  • Alphabet Soup Search
  • Keyword Lists
  • Brainstorm HQ
  • etc

Jaaxy Sample Search

Jaaxy Lite can easily compete with most of the top-quality paid keyword research tools out there and it comes at no extra cost once you upgrade to Wealthy Affiliate premium.

A standard paid keyword research tool might cost as much as the Wealthy Affiliate premium membership, or even more per month.

Jaaxy is my most used tool as an affiliate marketer.

Affilorama also has a keyword research tool but not as good as Jaaxy, in many aspects. Its results are not that accurate and limited per country, its related keywords and not even remotely related, its competition analysis is unclear, etc.

Affilorama Keyword Research Sample

Free keyword research tools found in Google might be more precise and practical than Affilorama’s.

Other Tools

Wealthy Affiliate

  • Website Comments and Feedback – a very unique give-and-take system where you earn credits for leaving comments and feedback to other websites. You can afterward use those credits to ask for comments or feedback on your website.
  • Website Manager – check your website’s health, plugins, loading speed, reset your admin’s password, find your FTP login credentials, Site+ Features, Google index status, etc
  • Site Content – Another unique tool to simplify your writing, improve accuracy, increase efficiency, decrease grammar and spelling errors, set and meet goals and organize all of your writing activities in one central place
  • Domain Management – find, register, renew, transfer, and manage your domain names

Affilorama

Affilorama has a suite of tools called AffiloTools.

Some of the tools included are

  • Manage and monitor keywords – find out how many people are coming to your website by searching for your target keywords
  • Health check – recommendations to improve your on-page SEO, website’s performance, and indexing status
  • Traffic monitoring – check how many came to your website and through which source, demographics, etc
  • Clickbank revenue
  • Backlink analysis – how many websites link to yours
  • Facebook and Twitter management

AffiloTools is nothing special and truly useful as most of its tools can be found elsewhere.

For example, you can

  • Monitor your traffic using Google Analytics
  • Find out about your Clickbank revenue within Clickbank itself
  • Analyze your backlinks and check your website’s indexing status using Google Search Console
  • Manage your Facebook and Twitter posts and account within Facebook and Twitter
  • Monitor and manage your keywords again using Google Search Console

AffiloTools has a free and several paid versions I would never pay for.

Wealthy Affiliate vs Affilorama – Support

Tech Support

Are you having problems with your website? Maybe you can’t log in you admin’s dashboard or maybe your website is down.

To solve such problems, you need a responsive and skillful tech support.

Wealthy Affiliate’s tech support is instant. Their average response time is less than 5 minutes. All you have to do is open a ticket to them and they will do their best to resolve your issue ASAP.

Wealthy Affiliate Tech Support

Once I had an issue accessing the editor of my website. I opened a ticket and it got resolved in less than 10 minutes.

On Wealthy Affiliate, tech support is available to premium members only.

Affilorama does not have dedicated tech support.

Usually, when a person faces technical difficulties, they post their query in Affilorama’s forum, and then an admin opens a ticket to the technical support.

You could also directly submit your technical problem to their general support through an email or a telephone call.

This means that it might take a while for your issue to be resolved and if it is something critical, such as being unable to access your admin’s dashboard, you cannot afford to hold for long for a solution.

Dedicated tech support seems to be non-existent even for those who purchase Affilorama’s premium packages.

Nevertheless, the general support is pretty helpful, friendly, and will answer all your queries in the best possible way.

Affilorama also has a very useful FAQ section on several topics such as affiliate marketing, their partner program, as well as their premium products.

Affilorama FAQ Support

1-on-1 Coaching/Mentoring

On Wealthy Affiliate, you can ask for 1-on-1 coaching from other more experienced members, the live training chief Jay, or even the founders Kyle and Carson themselves.

Most of the time, you’ll get all the help, tips, and insights you need towards improving your affiliate marketing business. I once asked Kyle for some tips on composing a product review. He responded to me in less than 24 hours, he answered all my questions clearly and even offered to take a look at my review once I finished it.

Affilorama provides no mentoring, no 1-on-1 coaching, and no direct access to any of its admins or the founder Mark Ling.

Wealthy Affiliate vs Affilorama – Community

Jim Rohn used to say that you become the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with. You want to increase your chances of becoming a successful affiliate marketer? You have to start hanging out with like-minded people.

Finding such people in real life might be difficult, but you can always find thousands or even millions of them online.

Both Wealthy Affiliate and Affilorama have large communities of people who have already made their way to success. They also have means such as forums or live chat to reach those people, hang out with them, ask for tips, insights, advise, etc.

Forum

One way to come in contact with other Affilorama members is through the forum. However, Affilorama’s forum is not that active compared to regular ones.

Within the forum, your questions are going to be answered usually by Affilorama’s admins. Sometimes, other members will reply to you as well.

However, be careful about whose advice you follow as replies that come from other members might be inaccurate and/or inadequate.

There also exist private forums for those who purchase AffiloBlueprint, AffiloJetpack, and AffiloTheme.

Affilorama Forum

Wealthy Affiliate does not have a forum.

The thing is that it does not need one as it has many other means to get support and connect with other members such as

  • live chat
  • personal blog as well as blog comments
  • private messaging
  • etc

Personal Blog

Wealthy Affiliate

Wealthy Affiliate BlogEvery Wealthy Affiliate member owns a personal blog on the platform.

Within this blog, people will usually share their experiences and thoughts about a subject, success and failure stories, seek support and motivation, give advice, etc.

A blog that you post within the WA platform will appear on a blog feed which is similar to the Facebook’s news feed for other people to read.

The best part of having a personal blog within WA, is that if a person finds one of your WA blog posts through Google, social media, etc, clicks to read it, joins Wealthy Affiliate and upgrades their membership to premium, Wealthy Affiliate is going to keep paying you a commission for as long as this person remains a WA premium member.

Affilorama

Affilorama has no personal blog.

The forum is the only place where you can share your thoughts on any subject.

Nevertheless, Affilorama has a blog available but it is definitely not personal as only Mark Ling and Affilorama’s staff are allowed to post.

Live Chat

One of the most amazing and valuable features of Wealthy Affiliate is their live chat.

The live chat is highly active 24/7/365 and you can use it to ask questions, share your thoughts, help other members out, or just hang out and chat with other affiliate marketers.

Wealthy Affiliate Live Chat

The average response time on the live chat is 1-2 minutes. There are always senior members and ambassadors available to answer your questions instantly, accurately, and adequately.

Carson, Kyle, and Jay are occasionally sharing their wisdom on the live chat as well.

Many successful affiliate marketers have pointed out that if it weren’t for the Wealthy Affiliate’s live chat, they might have never made it that far.

As a WA free member, you get to use the live chat only for your first 7 days on the platform. Premium members can keep using it indefinitely.

Affilorama has no live chat.

Private Messaging

Both Wealthy Affiliate and Affilorama enable you to directly contact other members through private messages.

Within Wealthy Affiliate, you can exchange private messages with other members, moderators, trainers, and coaches, as well as the founders Kyle and Carson themselves.

However, private messaging is only available to premium members.

On the other hand, Affilorama’s free members can send private messages to other members but not to any of the moderators or Mark Ling.

The same applies to those who purchase Affilorama’s premium products.

Training

Most premium Wealthy Affiliate members are constantly creating their own training modules on several subjects relevant to affiliate marketing such as

  • SEO
  • Tools
  • Content creation
  • Social media promotion
  • Image Creation
  • Paid advertising
  • etc

This means that in addition to the 300+ hours of education created by Wealthy Affiliate’s founders and training staff, there exist thousands of more hours of training created by other affiliate marketing experts.

To create your own WA training module you have to be a premium member for at least 6 months.

Affilorama’s training is only created solely by Mark Ling as well as Affilorama’s moderators.

Which One Do I Prefer?

I believe that up until now it’s fairly obvious that my preference leans towards Wealthy Affiliate.

But why is that?

Actually, there is more than one reason… Let me explain.

First of all, a website builder, a hosting platform, and a keyword research tool of the same quality as Wealthy Affiliate’s will come at a higher price than that of Wealthy Affiliate’s premium monthly membership.

Secondly, Wealthy Affiliate’s training is step by step, very explanatory while at the same time extremely simple for everyone, even those who have no previous experience to be able to comprehend, follow, and implement.

In addition, most of the Wealthy Affiliate’s training has been put together by Kyle with care while Mark Ling seems to have outsourced most of Affilorama’s content.

Moreover, the thing that I like about Wealthy Affiliate the most is that its founders don’t rest. They continuously find new ways to innovate and further improve the platform by

  • making upgrades
  • regularly updating the training
  • introducing new tools
  • making our websites faster and safer
  • and much more

This shows that they actually want to provide us with the best possible user experience, they care about us, and they want to show us that even when you have succeeded you can always become even better.

Furthermore, Wealthy Affiliate’s live chat is a huge asset which gives the platform the edge over most similar platforms.

Additionally, Afillorama is way too sales-y for my taste. The sales pages of its premium products definitely oversell them and exaggerate about the results that you are going to get in order to convince to purchase them.

The way I see it, there are two kinds of businesses in the world… Those which have been built for the purpose of making money and in the process might help a few people and those which have been created for the purpose to serve and help people and end up making money in the process.

Affilorama seems to be the former. Wealthy Affiliate seems to be the latter.

And this is why I trust Wealthy Affiliate way more and I actually prefer it over Affilorama.

No, you don’t.

Affiliate marketing is very simple to get started with by virtually anyone regardless of age, education, background, available capital, tech-savviness, professional network, etc.

In fact, most 6-figure affiliate marketers were no more experienced than you currently are when they first ventured into the affiliate marketing industry.

Nonetheless, being knowledgeable in fields like marketing, sales, content production, business management, etc., could help you reach your financial goals somewhat faster.

Final Thoughts

So which platform should you join? If you could make a guess you would think that I am about to recommend Wealthy Affiliate right?

Wrong!

Most people who have created similar reviews will try to convince you to join one platform while rejecting the other, in order for them to earn commissions.

This is not me! I just want to help you out in the best possible way.

This is why my recommendation is to just go ahead and join both Wealthy Affiliate and Affilorama.

Both of those platforms are free to join and they both offer you free resources such as training, tools, etc, without asking anything for return. So why not? You could definitely consume a ton of stuff without spending a dime.

So, if you asked me, here is what you should do:

When and if you feel that you are in need of a more extensive and high-quality training, better guidance, and more professional tools, then you can invest your money into a premium product of the platform that you liked the most.

This is what I would do if I were you.
