Before I move on to the actual Max International MLM review, I want to reveal to you some statistics about the MLM business model that will probably SHOCK you to your very core.

DON'T bother joining an MLM...

…until you’ve taken a good look at these shocking MLM statistics.

What is Max International About?

Max International is an MLM company that is operating in the health and wellness industries.

It calls itself “The Glutathione Company” because its focus is on manufacturing and distributing supplements that help boost the body’s glutathione production.

Glutathione is a molecule naturally produced by the body that recycles and helps restore other anti-oxidants.

Apparently, glutathione counters the negative effects of stress, poor diet, lack of sleep and physical exertion and is the first line of defense against all the “bad things” that enter our bodies through the environment and the foods and liquids we consume.

According to studies, some of the benefits of glutathione include

  • Better antioxidant defense
  • Metabolism regulation
  • Cellular regeneration
  • Anti-aging
  • Boosted immune system

Glutathione levels are supposedly depleted as we age so in order to maintain optimal health, we need to find ways to increase them.

However, just ingesting glutathione won’t really make any difference because glutathione is not bioavailable, meaning that it’s not absorbed well by our body.

What needs to be done is to encourage our bodies to produce glutathione naturally.

This is where Max International and its supplements come in.

Dr. Herbert T. Nagasawa was able to develop a molecule known as RiboCeine that effectively supports the body’s natural production of glutathione.

The effects of RiboCeine are scientifically proven and the molecule is patented by Max International.

Max International was first launched in 2007 by Steven K. Scott, Fred Ninow, and Gregory Fullerton.

Fred Ninow and Gregory Fullerton eventually departed for other ventures so right now, Scott is the only active owner of Max International.

Prior to founding Max International, in 1976, Steve Scott co-founded a conglomerate called The American Telecast Corporation. ATC began with $5,000 and grew into a multimillion-dollar company within 9 months.

Steve is also known as the creator of the Total Gym television campaign featuring Chuck Norris and Christie Brinkley, which resulted in over $2.5 billion in sales.

In addition, Steve Scott seems to be the author of 6 best-selling books including “The Richest Man Who Ever Lived” and “The Greatest Words Ever Spoken” and “Mentored by a Millionaire”.

The story of Max International starts in 2007 when Steve met Dr. Robert H. Keller, a research scientist, and immunologist, oncologist and hematologist doctor at Chuck Norris’s home.

At that time, Dr. Keller started showing Chuck and Steve some studies he’d been conducting on a formula that increased the production of glutathione in cells which apparently resulted in some profound health improvements.

Steve invited other people to use Dr. Keller’s formula and he soon found out that every single one of them was reaping substantial benefits.

Steve had the urge to bring Dr. Keller’s glutathione-enhancing product in front of as many people as possible and that’s how Max International was founded.

The company’s mission is to “Empower people to build a legacy of significant change in their lives and the lives of others”.

Its vision is to “Provide the life-changing benefits of its patented, Glutathione-enhancing, science-based products to the world”.

You can discover more about Max International’s founder, products, compensation plan, mission, policies, studies around glutathione and RiboCeine, etc on the company’s official website.

Max International's Products & Prices

Max International manufactures and distributes glutathione-enhancing products that fall under the 3 following categories:

  • Nutritional supplements
  • Weight management supplements
  • Beauty/skincare products

According to the Banned Substance Control Group (BSCG), Max International’s products are free of banned substances.

Additionally, Max uses vegetable capsules for all of their products, making them vegan-friendly and Halal certified.

The company’s flagship products are MaxGXL and Cellgevity.

Both MaxGXL and Cellgevity function as boosters of your body’s natural production of glutathione.

However, they both utilize different technologies to achieve this result…

MaxGXL uses a technology called “NAC” (N-Acetyl Cysteine) which is based on the formula developed by the late Dr. Robert Keller.

The supplement costs $85 per 180 capsules which should be a 30-day supply.

Cellgevity features Max’s patented RiboCeine technology in conjunction with twelve more essential nutrients that support glutathione’s vital role in removing harmful toxins, eliminating cellular inflammation, and neutralizing free radical damage in the body.

Cellgevity costs $97 – $101 per 120 capsules (30-day supply).

The rest of Max International’s products and their respective prices are as follows:

  • Max 3-5-7: Omega oil blend – $79
  • Max N-Fuse: Vitamin & mineral blend – $92
  • Max One: Glutathione booster using Max’s RiboCeine technology – $92

Compensation Plan

The majority of MLM companies have so extremely complicated compensation plans that it feels like you need to have a rocket scientist doctorate to understand just their first paragraph.

Max International’s compensation plan is no exception.

Nonetheless, to make things easier for you,  I’ll try my best to get you up to speed.

Max International compensates its Associates in the following 8 different ways…

  1. Customer Income
  2. Fast Start Income
  3. Prime Bonus
  4. Binary Income
  5. Global Bonus Pool
  6. Matching Check Bonus
  7. Max Living Bonus
  8. New Business Center

1 • Customer Income

When you sell products to retail customers either face to face or through your replicated website, the difference between the retail price and the wholesale price of the products sold goes into your pocket.

In addition, earn up to 25% of the CV  and 50% PV of the orders placed by your personally recruited Preferred Customers.

Preferred Customer = Customers who have signed up for a monthly AutoShip order

CV – Commissionable Volume = Volume generated through points assigned when products are purchased from Max multiplied with an exchange rate multiplier

PV – Personal Volume =  Volume generated from your personal orders or from the orders placed by your personally sponsored Preferred Customer

2 • Fast Start Income

Rewards you when your personally recruited Associates purchase an Enrollment Pack within the first 60 days of their enrollment as follows:

  • Professional Pack = $75
  • Premiere Pack = $150

There are additional enrollment Packs as well but for a full list of Fast Start eligible Enrollment Packs and their respective payouts available in your market, Max international claims that you’ll have to contact your local Customer Care.

3 • Prime Bonus

Max International pays up to 5% total of the global CV that is generated each month in the Prime Bonus program to those who meet the following requirements:

  • Maintain at least 100PV out of which at least 50PV must be generated from your own personal orders (pyramid scheme alert)
  • Reach the rank of Sr.Associate or higher

This bonus is paid through 3 Levels.

Level 1:

  • Have at least 3 Personally Enrolled Associates who maintain at least 100 PV
  • Have at least 500 CV generated from your entire 1st Generation of Associates

Level 2:

  • 3 of your Personally Enrolled Associates complete Level 1 of the Prime Bonus

Level 3:

  • 3 of your Personally Enrolled Associates complete Level 2 of the Prime Bonus

4 • Binary Income

The Binary Income pays you based on the CV generated by the Associates in your downline through a binary compensation structure

A binary structure places you at the top of your team with one team on your left (left leg) and one team on your right (right leg).

Binary-Compensation-Plan

The two Associates right below you are your personal recruits.

Each leg can contain an unlimited amount of Associates who are recruited either by you or by other Associates on either leg.

The leg which generates the higher CV is considered your power leg and the leg which generates the smaller CV is considered your weak leg.

This Binary Income pays you 10% of the CV of your weak leg.

The CV difference between your power leg and your weak leg (Carry Forward Volume) will roll forward to the next month.

5 • Global Bonus Pool

The Global Bonus Pool allows you to earn shares of the CV that is generated by Max’s Associates worldwide.

Everytime the CV of your weak leg increases by 1000CV above your historical high, you earn 1 share of 1% of all of the CV that is generated at Max globally.

Multiple shares can be earned in a single month!

6 • Matching Check Bonus

Pays you a matching percentage of the Binary Income commissions earned by your Personally Enrolled Associates up to 7 Generations deep and is paid in 3 Tiers based on the team that generates the higher CV (Power Team).

When your Power Team generates 76% – 100% of the CV, you’ll get paid at Tier 1 (image below).

Max International Matching Check Bonus Tier 1

When your Power Team generates 61% – 75% of the CV, you’ll get paid at Tier 2 (image below).

Max International Matching Check Bonus Tier 2

When your Power Team generates less than 60% of the CV, you’ll get paid at Tier 3 (image below).

Max International Matching Check Bonus Tier 3

  • Platinum = $250
  • Diamond = $375
  • Double Diamond = $500
  • Triple Diamond = $625
  • Crown Diamond = $750

8 • New Business Center

When you reach the rank of Crown Diamond, you are rewarded with a new Business Center.

This new Business Center will be placed right above you in the Binary Tree. This allows your original Business Center to become the Power Leg of the new Business Center (see image below).

Max International New Business Center

Your new Business Center is eligible to qualify for all the bonuses of Max’s compensation plan. What this means is that you have the ability to earn each bonus twice.

You can study Max International’s full compensation plan for yourself right here.

I also managed to locate a video that sums up Max’s compensation plan pretty neatly so you might want to watch it before moving forward.

Please note that Max International’s compensation plan might undergo changes from time to time so by the time you read this review, some of the info, the commission rates, the rank qualifications, etc that I shared with you right above might not be that accurate.

If you still have questions about Max International’s compensation plan, you can contact the company’s support team through the email address support@max.com or at the telephone number (801) 562-8440

Or you could email me at harry@dearboss-iquit.com and I will do my best to help you out.

You can join Max International as an Associate by hitting the “Join” button on the very top of another Associate’s replicated website or on Max International’s official website.

At that point, if you are attempting to join through Max’s official website, you’ll have to fill in your referring Associate’s ID or first and last name in order to proceed.

Please note that purchasing an Enrollment Pack is optional so you can proceed without adding one in your cart.

Again, purchasing additional products is optional so you can proceed without adding any of them in your cart.

Fill in your shipping information and hit “Proceed”.

Lastly, fill in your payment information and some additional personal information, hit “Process Order” and voila!

How Much Does It Cost to Join Max International as an Associate?

In order to join Max International as an Associate, you’ll have to purchase an activation fee that costs $25 per year.

Purchasing this activation fee gives you access to a cloud-based back office, a 90-day training plan, a mobile application, a customized payment platform, etc.

During your signup, Max International gives you the option to purchase additional the following Enrollment Packs that contain several discounted product bundles, marketing brochures, plus a certain amount of CV.

  • Into Pack: $250 – $495
  • Personal Pack: $130 – $160
  • Professional Pack: $549
  • Premiere Pack: $999 – $1025

The more expensive the Enrollment Pack you purchase, the more products, marketing materials, and CV you’ll get.

Please note that purchasing any of those Enrollment Packs is optional.

The $25 activation fee is omitted if you purchase a Premiere or Intro Pack.

Is Max International a Pyramid Scheme?

Most of the time it’s very hard to distinguish between a legit MLM company and a pyramid scheme.

Make sure to watch the video below to discover how to spot and avoid pyramid schemes in general.

The main difference between a legit MLM and a pyramid scheme is that your income potential with a legit MLM is mostly based on selling the company’s actual products or services to retail customers while your income potential with a pyramid scheme is mostly or solely based on recruiting other people into the scheme.

Not all MLMs are legitimate. If the money you make through an MLM is based on your sales to the public, it may be a legitimate one. If the money you make is based on the number of people you recruit and your sales to them, it’s not legit. It’s a pyramid scheme. Pyramid schemes are illegal, and the vast majority of their participants lose money. – Federal Trade Commission

Max International’s compensation plan definitely displays some characteristics of a pyramid scheme.

First of all, the Fast Start Income pays you based on the Enrollment Pack purchases of your personally recruited Associates. Okay, this is not such a big deal… The majority of MLM companies offer some kind of similar fast start bonus.

However, what alarms me is the Prime Bonus and the fact that in order to qualify to earn its 1st Level not only you’ll need to recruit Associates but also to purchase at least 50PV worth of products yourself.

In addition, in order to earn Level 2 and Level 3 of this bonus, you’ll have to get a number of your recruits to qualify for the 1st Level of the bonus as well.

This creates a chain whereas you make personal purchases and recruit other Associates to make personal purchases who will, in turn, recruit other Associates to make personal purchases and recruit even more Associates, and so on and so on…

This is exactly how pyramid schemes work – generating sales volume through the personal purchases of their Associates and then using this volume or part of it to pay out commissions to their upline.

Despite the fact that Max International compensates its Associates for their retail sales as well, the Prime Bonus in conjunction with the Fast Start Income makes me extremely suspicious that the company could be operating as a pyramid scheme.

Proceed with extreme caution…

Max International Pros

1 • Free Replicated Website

Once you join Max International as an Associate, the company provides you with a free replicated website.

When people purchase Max International’s products or sign up as preferred customers through your replicated website, you’ll earn commissions off of their purchases.

In addition, if someone signs up as an Associate through your replicated website you automatically become their sponsor, and they become part of your downline.

If marketed the right way, this replicated website could help you maximize your retail sales, recruits and thus your income.

If your business is not on the internet, then your business will be out of business – Bill Gates

2 • Affordable Entry

You can join Max International as an Associate with just $25 per year.

This is pretty affordable compared to other MLM companies that require hundreds and maybe even thousands of dollars of initial investment to become a part of their MLM compensation plan.

To give you a frame of reference, in order to become a Distributor for an MLM called Enagic Kangen Water you need to purchase one of its products and the cheapest one costs $1980.

3 • Established Company

Max International has been in business for almost 13 years which is exceptional considering that most MLM companies burn to the ground before they even hit the 5-year mark…

The downside of Max International being so established is that its target market will probably already be way too saturated so you might have great difficulty breaking into it and finding people to recruit or purchase the company’s products due to the sheer amount of already existing Associates out there.

Something that kinda alarms me is that according to businessforhome.org, Max International’s yearly revenue has been stable at $40 million since 2015.

This could mean that the company doesn’t acquire a healthy amount of new Associates in order to keep growing.

This is a classic sign of a pyramid scheme.

At some point, pyramid schemes stop acquiring new Associates (because there’s literally nobody else left to recruit), they go through stability in revenue for some years, and then they start collapsing.

4 • Provides Refunds

Max International offers a 100% 30-day money-back guarantee to Associates or Customers who are not fully satisfied with a product they purchased for any reason (minus shipping & handling charges incurred).

Research shows that money-back guarantees and refunds increase customers’ feelings of satisfaction with their purchases.

In addition, people are much more likely to buy products that have a money-back guarantee as well as purchase from the same seller that offered it in the future.

You can find out more about Max International’s money-back guarantee right here (Section 7).

Max International Cons

1 • MLM Business Model

As mentioned earlier, I am not at all fond of the MLM business model in general for many reasons…

First of all, the percentage of MLM participants who never actually make a profit is awfully high (74% – 99%).

In addition, the majority of those who do manage to make a profit, don’t earn more than $5000 per year.

Secondly, I hate selling and recruiting…

And thirdly, I’ve heard so many stories of people losing friends, family, and money due to the pushy and sleazy practices they were being taught by their “mentors” that I have become repulsed by the MLM business model in general.

Being involved in an MLM company is just not worth the trouble in my mind.

Especially when there exist other much more legit ways of building a substantial income without having to turn into a sleazy salesperson jeopardizing your relationships with those around you because you can’t stop perceiving them as walking bags of cash.

And truthfully, there’s not a single indication that Max International is any different from your average MLM in any way…

2 • Complicated Compensation Plan

Prime Bonus, binary structures, enrollment packs PV, CV, generations, various percentages, different ranks and levels, business centers, pools, legs, shit, yadda yadda yadda.

A person who is newly introduced to the MLM business model doesn’t stand a chance of really grasping exactly how Max International is going to compensate them as an Associate.

This is no random occurrence though…

MLM companies make their compensation plans so complicated on purpose to “confuse” people into joining them.

It’s called “Complexity Bias” and it’s the tendency of people to trust complex concepts more than simple ones.

Marketers use complexity bias all the time to boost the sales of a product/service by incorporating confusing language or insignificant details into its packaging or sales copy.

MLM companies do the exact same thing with their compensation plans to get more people to join them.

And no, I am not making things up…

You can read all about complexity bias right here.

3 • Expensive Enrollment Packs

Although joining Max International as an Associate is pretty cheap at $25 per year, the company’s Enrollment Packs are quite expensive.

Yes, the Enrollment Packs are optional but let’s not kid ourselves here… You are not going to start earning money out of thin air… You are going to need to have products to make demonstrations and give away as samples to potential customers and recruits.

If you are serious about earning money with Max International, you’ll have to purchase one of its Enrollment Packs.

And not one of the cheap Personal Packs that contain just 2 bottles of Cellgevity and 3 useless brochures but the expensive ones like the $495 Intro Pack.

For me, that’s way too much money to invest at once in an MLM.

Especially if you consider that starting and running an online business is way cheaper while offering a lot more chances of actually making a profit.

For instance, I have built 3 online businesses with the help of Wealthy Affiliate until now and I only pay $24.9 per month.

It’s a no brainer.

Also, consider that when the products you got with your Enrollment Pack run out you’ll have to personally purchase more them for demonstration and sampling purposes and they are not exactly cheap…

If you want to further increase your chances of actually making money with Max International, you’ll have to consider using the products yourself as well.

The best way to sell a product is by showing the results you achieved by using it yourself.

However, this translates to even more expenses.

So, don’t get fooled by the very small $25 per year renewal fee.

The subsequent expenses of actually running your Max International business could rise up to thousands of dollars per year.

4 • Low Income Potential

All Income Disclosure Statements I’ve come across until now reveal the exact same thing… That the vast majority of MLM reps never actually make any profit and those who do make a profit, would have to throw an additional couple of bucks on top of it to buy a pizza.

Unfortunately, Max International’s Income Disclosure Statement tells the exact same story.

According to it, the average monthly commission paid to Active Associates in the U.S during 2011 was $140.5

Furthermore,

  • 64.83% of Active Associates made an average annual income of $227.02
  • Less than 1% made more than $4000 during the same year
  • 89% of all Max’s Associates remained inactive and made no money whatsoever

Again, joining Max International or any other MLM it’s just not worth the trouble…

I’d better throw away my money and at least not waste my time…

5 • Extremely Slow-Loading Websites

Do you remember earlier that I mentioned that Max International provides you with a free replicated website to market your business?

Well, this is good news…

The bad news is that those replicated websites take an extremely long time to actually load, and when I say “extremely long time” I don’t mean just 10 seconds but rather 50-70 seconds.

Okay, first of all, such an awful website loading speed makes Max International seem extremely unprofessional. A company that makes $40 billion a year should spend some money to optimize their website as well as the websites it provides to its Associates.

I spent at least 1 hour waiting for Max’s webpages to load while browsing through its website to conduct my research for Pete’s sakes (I am not exaggerating).

Most importantly, slow website loading speeds will most definitely result in high abandon rates.

Abandon = When a visitor leaves your website because they got bored to wait for it to load.

In fact, 40% of people abandon a website that takes more than 3 seconds to load. Also, a 1-second delay in page response can result in a 7% reduction in conversions.

How many customers and sales do you believe you’ll lose when your replicated “business” website takes 60 seconds to load?

Well, do the math and you’ll find out.

Spoiler alert… Quite a lot of them!

6 • Lawsuits

Just like most MLM companies do sooner or later, Max International has been involved in a number of lawsuits.

According to Deseret News, in 2009, Max International was accused by another health & wellness MLM company called Melaleuca of poaching employees and encouraging them to breach contracts. Two years later, Max International ended up paying a $1.2 million settlement.

In addition, in 2010, Max International and various of its current and former Max executives, employees, and Associates were sued by Tripharma for patent infringement for $450 million. The case is still open.

Furthermore, according to businessforhome.org, in 2012, Scott Unclebach (founder of IDLife) and Mitch Edland (owner of DNA Stat) sued Max International for several reasons such as:

  • Falsifying and lying about studies being conducted around its products
  • Overpricing products that could be bought elsewhere for half their prices
  • Patent infringing, engaging in trademark dilution, and false advertising
  • Not digestible pills who had adverse side effects
  • Defectively manufactured and packaged products
  • Allowing Max’s executive employees to own positions in Max’s Marketing and Compensation Plan
  • etc

Is Max International Suggested?

Joining Max International as an Associate is not suggested for quite a few reasons…

First and foremost, there are indications that the company could be operating as a pyramid scheme.

Secondly, something that I just noticed is that the company keeps claiming that its supplements are scientifically proven. The majority of other Max International reviews out there claim the exact same thing.

Such claims are fake and misleading…

What is really scientifically proven is not Max International’s products themselves but rather some of the effects that the ingredients included in them could induce such as the fact that RiboCeine boosts the production of glutathione in the body.

On the other hand, what really amazed me is that there are no complaints about Max International anywhere online.

Usually, when an MLM has been operating for so many years, the internet has been filled with complaints about its products, side effects, billing issues, returns & refunds, false charges, unrealistic claims, etc.

However, Max International has a pretty clean reputation.

As a result, BBB has given Max International an A+ rating which is actually the highest possible rating.

However, since you came here to figure out if Max International is a legit money-making opportunity, consider that according to the company’s IDS, more than 91% of Max International’s Active Associates made no more than $1600 during 2011.

Would you really want to invest your time and money in a “business opportunity” with such a low income potential?

If so, then well, you have my blessing!

If not, make sure to check out a better money-making opportunity right here.
