How To Quit A Job You Hate, With The Least Possible Risk

How To Quit A Job You Hate, With The Least Possible Risk

Quitting your job, no matter why and how much you hate it, is a very hard decision to take.

On one hand, knowing exactly when your next paycheck is going to come makes you feel safe and secure. You have bills to pay and you cannot feed on universal energy like some people. You can’t quit your job cold-turkey leaving yourself without an income, you need the money!

On the other hand, every single day that you set foot at work, you feel like you are getting closer and closer to losing your mind, or maybe killing someone (like your boss).

You want to quit your job so badly, but quitting your steady salary is too big of a risk for you.

Thankfully, as most similar articles suggest, there are conventional ways to quit the job you hate comfortably with minimal risk of having zero income such as

  • finding another job first
  • asking for a transfer or promotion
  • talking things out with your boss
  • etc

However, in this article, I am going to let you know how to quit a job you hate like a boss, by having an income already flowing in through creating and developing your very own online affiliate marketing business.

Just hear me out.

How To Quit a Job You Hate: The Less Risky Approach

Among all the approaches to quitting your job, creating an online business is the less risky one for so many reasons…

1 • Side Hustle

First and foremost, you can develop your business as a side hustle, until it brings in enough revenue that you don’t need the salary from your day job anymore to get along. Then, you can quit the job you hate.

2 • Do Something You Actually Like

You can build your online business around any subject you want.

Do you have any hobbies or passions? Create your online business around one of them!

This way you will keep being motivated, focused, and engaged.

If you go for another job, you might end up hating it as much as your previous one. And this is the best case scenario.

3 • You can get started for FREE!!!

There are ways to get your first affiliate marketing business up and running without spending a dime.

I am going to show you exactly how to do that later on so just keep reading.

4 • Freedom

Running your own online business offers a freedom which no regular job can offer.

You can work whenever you want, from wherever you want, and how you want.

You are in complete control.

5 • No Need for Another Job

You won’t have to work for anyone else ever again. You become the boss of yourself.

No more job interviews, looking for a better job, hating what you do, wearing formal uncomfortable clothes, long commutes, taking orders from shitheads, pretending to like random people, etc.

6 • Less Likely to Waste Your Time

If you are living in a country with a poor economy and a tight job market, just like mine, finding another job might take months. Finding a better job might be nearly impossible. Imagine looking for a better job for months or even a year, finding one, taking it, and after a while realizing that it is worse than your previous one. Lame…

7 • Can’t Get Fired

No job is safe and secure. You can get fired at any job anytime. I know people who were working for 20 years at a company, they were passionate about their work, and one day, out of the blue, they got fired for no reason at all. They say that the only way to true financial stability and security is working for yourself.

8 • Infinite Potential

Your earning potential is unlimited… You are not tied to a fixed salary which will go up when and if you get promoted. The more effort you make the more money you make. Many online affiliate marketers end up making much more than they used to make at their regular job.

The benefits of running your own business are countless. I could keep going on and on but I decided to hold my horses for another post.

Still, every up has its down.

The Upside-Down

While building an online business might be one of the less risky (and fun) ways to quit a job you hate, it’s not all flowers and candy.

1 • Takes Time and More…

Running an online business is not different than running a regular one.

It takes a lot of time, energy, patience, perseverance, dedication, focus, and consistency.

It’s not a get-rich-quick scheme. It won’t happen overnight. It might actually take some months to start earning your first money online.

Rome wasn’t built in a day.

2 • Money Investment

To develop your online business more effectively, and maybe faster, you might have to invest some of your money on tools, training platforms, online courses, etc.

Don’t worry I am not talking about colossal amounts of money.

For example, for just around $30 per month, I have all I need to run and scale my online business.

Since you are keeping your job, I believe that you’ll have no problem investing just a fraction of your monthly salary for the good of your online business either.

3 • Might Require Sacrifices

You will most probably need to make sacrifices such as

  • sleeping less
  • refusing nights out with your friends
  • working during weekends
  • spending less time with your loved ones
  • borrowing time from other activities or giving some of them up completely
  • etc

Some days you might even have to put in superhuman efforts such as staying up most of the night to watch this live webinar or work on your online business straight after getting off work, for many hours or even until going to bed.

Those little sacrifices are what make a champion.

4 • Befriend Failure

You will fail a lot, you will get frustrated and you will have the urge to give up many, many, many times… DON’T!

Many people are not accustomed to facing failure and then getting up just to fail more and more. Those are the people who never get what they want, and not just online but in every aspect of their lives.

Failure is an integral part of success. To make this work you’ll have to make friends with it. If you get overwhelmed by it just slow down a bit but never stop moving.

So, before I let you know how to actually get started, it is important that I share with you a small part of my story.

How to Quit a Job You Hate – My Story

I started my first online business back in 2016. At that time I was working a part-time job and I wanted to make some extra money to move out of my parent’s house.

A couple of months later, I got promoted to a full-time employee, I moved out, and for a while, I laid my online business aside.

However, I soon realized how much I hated my job and I wanted out. Just like you though, I couldn’t afford to lose my steady salary. I needed to find a way to replace it.

Created Blog4Cash

During the summer of 2017, I wanted to give this whole online business another chance, so I created blog4cash. I worked on it for a couple of months and laid it aside just like my first business.

You see, I hated my job so much that I couldn’t wait for months until I start earning enough to quit it. So, I decided to take the “easy” way out and start looking for another job.

Halted Blog4Cash to Look for a Better Job

I went to dozens of interviews… Most of them sucked. Some of them wanted to hire me but there was always a problem. Maybe they were too far away from home or paying much less, or had rotating shifts and weird working days and hours, or just boring and unmotivating.

After having gone to like 100 interviews, I decided to stop wasting my time looking for another job which I would most likely grow to hate eventually as well and resume developing my online business in order to eventually set my self, free forever from all this rat race.

Resuming Blog4Cash

May 2018, I got serious, put my head down, and started developing blog4cash like crazy.

However, I was progressing way too slowly.

My time was very limited and my job was so demanding that left me no mental energy to work on my business. My efforts were poor and unfocused. After all, working just 1-2 hours a day on your business at best is just not enough.

I had to find a way to develop my business faster and better… Quitting my job altogether before making any money through my online business was way too risky.

On the other hand, I could see that at this rate, it would take a million years for me to quit the job I hated so much.

I was trying to find a solution for weeks when a colleague of mine told me that due to personal reasons she asked our manager to be demoted from a full-time employee to a part-time one. Our manager agreed to this and after a while, my colleague became a part-time worker.

Could I maybe become part-time as well?

I had to make a plan.

The Plan for Shifting to Part-Time

I found out how much money I would earn as a part time-worker, how much money I have spent per month the last few months, how much money I had in my savings account and if I could cut down some unnecessary expenses like buying random stuff and food (just kidding about the food :P).

Also, I needed to calculate how many hours per day I would work on my online business as a part-time employee as well as how many months it would take for my business to start bringing in money.

My calculations seemed very promising so, I went ahead and asked my manager if I could become part-time… She agreed and 2 months later I was demoted to a part-time employee as well.

At the time that I am writing this article, I am a part-time worker for about a month and things couldn’t be better.

I am working on my online business all day long, I am not constantly overly exhausted (mainly because now I hate my job for 4 hours a day instead of 8 :P), I have time to do some things that I didn’t have the time before like exercising and cooking and in just this 1 month I have made more progress than the last 4 months combined.

I am still not making enough money to be able to support myself without working a regular job, but I am definitely on my way there.

The best part is that the risk I took is minimal because even if this doesn’t work (which it will), I still have my regular job and I could apply for a full-time position if necessary.

Final Thoughts

This is my story up until now… Believe me that I kept it as short as possible… But I am up to 2000 words and I still haven’t shown you how to actually start your online business το quit a job you hate.
