According to Norwex, out of more than 80.000 chemicals that are being used in house-cleaning products today, only a few of them have actually been tested and deemed safe for humans.
Most of those chemicals contribute to indoor air pollution which is one of the top five highest-ranking environmental health problems in America, with chemical levels up to 70 times higher than outside.
The purpose all of Norwex’s products serve, is to reduce those harmful indoor cleaning chemicals in people’s lives and help them live more sustainably.
Norwex’s flagship product is called “EnviroCloth” or “Little Red Cloth”.

How to Join Norwex as a Consultant?
In order to sign up as a Norwex Consultant, you need to head over to norwex.biz and click “Shop With a Consultant” on the top right corner of the website.
Fill in the name and last name of your Consultant, click “Search” and then “Shop With Me”.
If you don’t have a Consultant, you’ll have to locate one.
On the same page under the “Need a Consultant?” section, fill in your language, postal code or city, and click “Search”.
A number of Consultants will come up in the results so locate the one that you would like to sponsor you and click “Shop With Me”.
Now, click “Join”, scroll down a bit and click on “Join Now“.
Agree to the Contract Terms & Conditions, Policies & Procedures, and Media Policy of Norwex and hit “Next”.
On the next page, fill in the requested personal information and hit “Next”.
Then, fill in your mobile phone number and choose if you’d like to receive updates and notifications from Norwex regarding your business, shipments, recruits, etc.
Once you are done, hit “Next”.

If you generate $2000+ in retail sales during your first 90 days you will get that Starter Kit for free (you will only have to pay $9.99 for shipping & handling plus taxes where applicable).
Chances that you’ll reach that goal are very slim so you’ll probably have to purchase your Starter Kit anyway.
This Starter Kit contains several products that you can personally use, resell, or give away as samples to potential customers as well as training materials and business supplies.
In addition to the Starter Kit, Norwex gives you the option to purchase one of the Builder Packages below:

What do you think happens if you don’t manage to meet this requirement?
Well, you
- either lose all the commissions earned from your downline’s retail sales and get demoted
- or you personally purchase products in order to maintain your rank and earn your commissions
For instance, a Senior Executive Sales Leader needs to earn at least $550 in retail sales each month to maintain his rank and earn team commissions.
If he makes only $200 in retail sales during any given month he will
- either lose all the commissions earned from his downline’s retail sales and get demoted to an Executive Sales Leader

Is Norwex a Pyramid Scheme
Most of the time it’s very hard to distinguish between a legit MLM company and a pyramid scheme.

The main difference between a legit MLM and a pyramid scheme is that your income potential with a legit MLM is mostly based on selling the company’s actual products or services to retail customers while your income potential with a pyramid scheme is mostly or solely based on recruiting other people into the scheme.
Not all MLMs are legitimate. If the money you make through an MLM is based on your sales to the public, it may be a legitimate one. If the money you make is based on the number of people you recruit and your sales to them, it’s not legit. It’s a pyramid scheme. Norwex’s compensation plan is kind of like a mixture between a legit MLM and a pyramid scheme…
Although the company seems to be encouraging retail sales through throwing parties, at the same time, 4 out of its 7 compensation bonuses are based on recruiting other Consultants.
In addition, recruiting other Consultants is mandatory in order to advance through the company’s ranks.
For instance, in order to reach the rank of Senior Vice President Sales Leader, you’ll need to have at least 85 Engaged Personal Recruits and at least 600 Engaged Consultants in your downline (which is not that much if you consider that this is the company’s highest rank).
However, Sponsor Consultants don’t seem to be earning any commissions based on the Starter Kits, Builder Packs, or personal product purchases of their recruits so Norwex cannot be considered a pyramid scheme.

If marketed the right way, this replicated website could help you maximize your retail customers, recruits and thus your income.

2 • Established Company
Norwex has been in business for 25 years which is exceptional considering that most MLM companies burn to the ground before they even hit the 5-year mark…
Not many companies, MLM or otherwise, can pull such a feat off.
The downside of Norwex being so established is that its target market will probably already be way too saturated so you might have great difficulty breaking into it and finding people to recruit or purchase the company’s products due to the sheer amount of already existing Consultants out there.
3 • Money-Back Guarantee
Norwex will fully refund, replace or exchange any products that are not to a customer’s complete satisfaction within 60 days of the purchase.
Research shows that money-back guarantees and refunds increase customers’ feelings of satisfaction with their purchases.
In addition, people are much more likely to buy products that have money-back guarantees as well as make more purchases from the same seller that offers those money-back guarantees.
To make things even better, Norwex provides a 2-year warranty on all its microfiber products. If a customer is not pleased with how a microfiber product has worn or performed they may contact their Consultant to have the item replaced, at no additional charge.

1 • MLM Business Model
As mentioned earlier, I am not at all fond of the MLM business model in general for many reasons…
First of all, the percentage of MLM participants who never actually make a profit is awfully high (74% – 99%).
In addition, the majority of those who do manage to make a profit, don’t earn more than $5000 per year.
Secondly, I hate selling and recruiting…
And thirdly, I’ve heard so many stories of people losing all their friends, family, and money due to the pushy and sleazy practices they were being taught by their “mentors” that I have become repulsed by the MLM business model in general.
Being involved in an MLM company is just not worth the trouble in my mind.
Especially when there exist other much more legit ways of building a substantial income without having to turn into a sleazy salesperson jeopardizing your relationships with those around you because you can’t stop perceiving them as walking bags of cash.
And truthfully, besides the fact that Norwex has been operating for 25 years, there isn’t a single indication that it’s any different from your average MLM in any way…
2 • Complicated Compensation Plan
Stars, host programs, FreshSTART, sales plans, uni-level, qualified recruits, various percentages, steps, monthly qualifications, different ranks and levels, yadda yadda yadda.
A person who is newly introduced to the MLM business model doesn’t stand a chance of really grasping exactly how Norwex is going to compensate them as a Consultant.
This is no random occurrence though…
MLM companies make their compensation plans so complicated on purpose to “confuse” people into joining them.
It’s called “Complexity Bias” and it’s the tendency of people to trust complex concepts more than simple ones.
Marketers use complexity bias all the time to boost the sales of a product/service by incorporating confusing language or insignificant details into its packaging or sales copy.
MLM companies do the exact same thing with their compensation plans to get more people to join them.

3 • Pricey Enrollment
While enrolling as a Norwex Consultant is not as expensive as enrolling in many other MLM companies, it’s still pretty pricey.
The mandatory Starter Kit alone costs $200 + $9.99 for shipping & handling + taxes if applicable.
The Builder Packages cost $150 to $430…
Yes, they are optional but chances are that you are going to be left with no choice but to purchase one.
First of all, the products the Builder Packages contain cost twice as much if purchased separately and chances are that you will purchase most of them anyway at some point.
Also, Builder Packages are available for purchase only during your enrollment.
Most Consultants will suggest pressure you to purchase the Gold Kit Builder Package which costs $260.
That’s way too expensive!
4 • No Income Disclosure Statement
The fact that Norwex has been operating for 25 years and it hasn’t released a single Income Disclosure Statement is kinda unacceptable.
It’s fairly obvious that Norwex tries to keep the extremely low income that its Consultants make under the radar in order for potential Consultants to not be discouraged from joining.
On the other hand, all Income Disclosure Statements I’ve come across until now reveal the exact same thing – that the vast majority of MLM reps never actually make any profit and those who do make a profit, would have to throw an additional couple of bucks on top of it to buy a pizza.
Chances are that if Norwex published an IDS tomorrow it would tell the exact same story…
5 • Unrealistic & Misleading Claims
Just like 99.99% of MLM companies do, Norwex and its Consultants make some pretty unrealistic and misleading claims in order to convince people that the company’s products work and that its business opportunity is worth joining.
The first misleading claim that truly made me kinda angry takes place on Norwex’s official website…
Norwex claims that you can get the Starter Kit for free, only paying $9.99 for its shipping.
However, what it doesn’t actually mention is that to actually get it for free you’ll have to make $2000+ in retail sales within your first 90 days as a Consultant.
If you don’t meet this requirement, you’ll get billed $200 for it normally.
This is a really sneaky and unethical way to get people to join as Consultants, misleading them that it’s free only to charge them $200 later on.
I disagree 100% with such tactics.
The second unrealistic claim Norwex makes, is that the EnviroCloth removes up to 99% of bacteria from any surface when used in conjunction with just water.
Many of the company’s consultants will claim that this is actually the work of micro silver that is contained within the cloth.
Despite the fact that I have never used EnviroCloth myself, I suspected from the get-go that such claims must be bogus.
So I conducted some research and as it turns out the micro silver the cloth contains doesn’t kill bacteria in any way… It just inhibits bacterial odor, mold, and/or mildew that could grow within the actual cloth.
In addition to that, I came across a number of articles, reviews, and testimonials of people actually claiming that not only EnviroCloth doesn’t kill bacteria but it actually grows more bacteria than any regular cleaning cloth (see one of those instances below).
Furthermore, a study performed at the University of Wisconsin-Madison by the pharmaceutical science division revealed that exposure to micro silver, which is found in Norwex products, either severely mutated or killed zebrafish embryos.
The researchers also discovered that micro silver had negative effects on the microbes used at waste treatment plants.
Moreover, according to this Reddit post, a science teacher used EnviroCloth to clean a plate.
He washed the cloth and let it dry for 24 hours. He then took a sample from the cloth and cultivated it in a petri dish.
As it turns out, bacterial colonies were formed normally which means that the EnviroCloth contained bacteria even though it was cleaned and left to dry for a day.
Now, despite the fact that I can’t really know if all those claims against Norwex and its EnviroCloth are legit and credible, given the fact that Norwex is an MLM and knowing how misleading MLM companies can be, I wouldn’t be surprised if every single one of its claims is false.
6 • Reliance on Hosting Parties
Norwex teaches its new Consultants to focus all of their efforts on organizing home parties whereas they will demonstrate the company’s products to potential customers and recruits.
For some of you, this is going to sound like a great idea…
“Whaaat? Making money by throwing parties? Count me in!”
Despite the fact that the whole process might sound fun, marketing your business through throwing parties is a very outdated and ineffective marketing method for many reasons.
First of all, your audience is going to be very small most likely consisting of your friends, family, and maybe some acquaintances.
After throwing 3-4 parties, you’ll run out of people to invite… Then what?
The fact that the EnviroCloth is not supposed to be disposed of after a few uses is bad for repeating business. It’s not like people will need to purchase a new EnviroCloth every week or month.
One of the reasons that the EnviroCloth costs 20 times more than an average cleaning cloth is because it is supposed to last a lot longer.
Furthermore, consider the fact that throwing parties is going to be costly.
What? Did you think that you are going to sit your invitees down on your couch without putting out a snack or drinks, pitch them a couple of products and then start magically making money off of their orders?
Yeah right…
A party of 20 people is going to cost at least $100.
What do you think happens if none of those 20 people you invited purchases a product?
You just lost money!
Lastly, I personally find the whole concept of inviting people to your house in order to pitch them products they might not even need or want extremely distasteful.
And chances are that many of your invitees will think so as well.
So be prepared that in addition to costing money, those parties could also cost you a few relationships.

Joining Norwex’s MLM opportunity isn’t really suggested.
Yes, the company might have a couple of pros such as
- being well-established
- providing a replicated website to its Consultants
- and offering money-back guarantees
but its cons just can’t really be ignored.
First of all, the fact that it hasn’t released a single Income Disclosure Statement in 25 years is highly alarming. Usually, MLM companies avoid publishing an IDS when they try to hide the extremely low income their reps earn.
Joining an MLM company that doesn’t have an IDS in place is like taking a job without knowing how much you are going to get paid… Would you?
The unrealistic claims Norwex and its Consultants employ, further decrease the company’s credibility and trustworthiness.
Many people who have used Norwex’s EnviroCloth claim that it isn’t different than a regular cleaning cloth in any way and yet, Norwex claims that it can kill 99% of bacteria on any surface. Based on that claim Norwex charges 20 times the cost of a regular cleaning cloth for it.
In addition, the fact that Norwex tries to trick people into thinking that they can get their Starter Kit for free is pretty appalling.
The Starter Kit can be acquired for free only if a Consultant manages to sell $2000 worth of Norwex products during their first 90 days which is something that’s extremely unlikely to happen.
Anyone who doesn’t meet that requirement automatically gets charged $200 for the Starter Kit.
Norwex doesn’t mention that anywhere on their website so people end up joining as Consultants only to find out about the $200 charge when it has already taken place.
The company does mention the requirement on a very small corner of its compensation plan with very small letters.
However, Norwex’s compensation plan can’t be found anywhere on the company’s official website – it’s available only to those who have already joined as Consultants.
That’s very sneaky.
Lastly, the business marketing tactic of throwing sales parties that Norwex teaches is highly outdated and ineffective, not to mention that it could potentially jeopardize your relationships with family and friends who will grow tired of you pitching them random products that they don’t even need every time you invite them to your house.
Would you really want to invest your time and money in such a “business opportunity”?

Ok, so first of all, Norwex does not claim that its cloths “kill bacteria”. That information is given out by consultants who do not understand how it works.
The cloths have been proven to REMOVE up to 99% of bacteria from a surface, using only water.
Once the cloth is rinsed well in hot water and hung to dry, the silver (which is added at the liquid stage before the fibers are spun; it’s like cream in your coffee; it’s not going anywhere), is a known antibacterial agent that prohibits the growth of bacteria, which is what will give you a stinky cloth.
Hey there, I use the words “remove” and “kill” interchangeably throughout the article so I’m not going to be arguing semantics.
Norwex should pay closer attention to how its representatives market its products. Misleading product promotions are pretty common in the MLM industry mostly because MLMs don’t really bother to properly train their participants.
Other than that, there are tons of conflicting studies and reports about the safety, effectiveness, and side effects of microfiber cloths and the silver they contain so I strongly suggest that you do your due diligence before you start using them and/or promoting them.

My agenda is to take information about Norwex’s MLM program that’s freely available throughout the web and present it in a structured manner that could be leveraged by people towards making an informed decision about whether investing their time, energy, and money in Norwex is in their best interest or not.
You claim that my review contains a lot of wrong information, but yet you didn’t bother pointing out my discrepancies.

MY INCOME EXAMPLE
At first, you spend 2-3 hours on planning and presenting a party –
– One hour for the party.
– One hour for inviting guests
– One hour for social media
I closed my party at the end of the week, and I earned $185 plus dollars for one party. It’s a pretty good income. You can have an online or in-person business and have multiple hosts at one party to maximize your efforts. If a person has trouble meeting the sales goals ( $1000 in 30 days or $2000 in 90 days), they most likely earned enough commission to pay for the $200.00 starter kit.
